The igbo board game celebrates the ecological stewardship through its focus on forestation; both afforestation, planting trees in areas that did not previously have trees, and reforestation, planting trees in areas that previously had trees. Forestation is important because of the benefits forests provide to humans. They are sources of food and medicine. They provide wood for shelter. They purify the air we breathe. This purification process removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide traps heat. By removing carbon dioxide from the air, they contribute to a reduction in global warming. Trees also bind soil together reducing the risk of erosion. In areas prone to wind disasters, they serve as windbreaks ensuring that the wind hits humans and structures with lower intensity.
